Making HR Decisions En Masse

Friday Strolled in Late.

…but no one cared. Friday’s got that kind of effect on people, generally. Friday can show up late, sometimes leave early, and maybe even harass the cute intern in accounting just a little bit, and everyone seems like they’re right there with the high-five. But, we’re on to you, Friday. We know your routine.

Friday, Thanks for Coming In. Have a seat?

Being asked to come into a meeting for 10 minutes to talk about what I do with the office web site, and getting stuck in there for more than an hour = EPIC FAIL.

Friday brings little work, and rain, but promises of a Renn Faire trip this weekend without the rain.

Coupled with my usual half day and lunch with friends, Friday can only get better if people start giving me free stuff.

Getting piled on at work, but I don’t mind.

Sarah Palin’s not bad to look at.

Friday brought me the news that I’ve been waiting for all week, finally green-lighting my move to London tomorrow. Yes, it was last minute, but that’s the type of job Friday does. It gets things done. Here’s to you Friday, I look forward to working with you again.

Friday did, in fact, stroll in late and will probably leave early. But, like the last mile of a marathon, Friday is that annoying last bit you just can’t get past. There’s still work to be done, and yet you feel as though you ought to be able to just get credit for having come this far and be allowed to go home. As Fridays go, this one is entirely unremarkable.

Friday was actually in a little early today, but it’s been cleverly slacking since. A mid-morning email saying “thanks for that work that took you all week - can you do twice as much and have it ready by Wednesday, this time?” was a teeth-grinder, but it ended up with making a good “HI, my name is flexibility” impression on my manager when I offered to work part of this weekend to get a head start on the work.

But Friday’s busting out early today, and I’m all for it. I might even go wild and go to the library after I leave!

Today gets an A+. Following a wonderful evening last night (birthday celebrations) and a win at work (after 2 weeks of troubleshooting), today is floating on air.
